Azure Container Registry

Private container images for Azure deployments

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

Azure Container Registry (ACR) hosts private Docker images for AKS, Azure Container Apps, and Azure DevOps release pipelines—with geo-replication, retention policies, and vulnerability scanning options.

ConnectSoft Factory builds publish multi-stage .NET 10 images to ACR using managed identity pulls in target environments—no long-lived registry passwords in Kubernetes secrets.

We align tagging conventions (:build-id, :semver) with rollback and audit requirements for regulated clients.

When containers are part of your Azure platform, ACR is the standard artifact store—we wire it into the same IaC and identity model as App Service and Functions.'

Why we use it:

  • Managed identity pull from AKS and Container Apps
  • Build pipelines push from Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Retention and geo-replication per SLA
  • Optional Defender scanning on push
  • No credentials embedded in application configuration
  • Pairs with Dockerfiles in Factory templates
  • Documented promotion path dev → staging → production
