Managed web apps and APIs on Azure

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

Azure App Service is the managed PaaS for hosting ASP.NET Core APIs, background workers, and companion sites—with deployment slots, autoscale, and integrated Application Insights.

ConnectSoft Factory templates frequently target App Service for microservices and gateways when teams want mature PaaS operations without Kubernetes overhead—using Azure Key Vault references, Microsoft Entra ID, and slot-based blue/green releases.

For client estates we map plan SKUs, regional pairs, and networking (VNet integration, private endpoints) to compliance needs.

If your .NET APIs should run on proven Azure PaaS with minimal ops toil, App Service remains a primary Factory landing zone.'

Why we use it:

  • Deployment slots for safe production promotion
  • Autoscale rules tied to CPU, memory, or HTTP queue depth
  • VNet integration and private endpoints when required
  • Key Vault references for connection strings and secrets
  • Application Insights enabled by default
  • Common Factory target for ASP.NET Core microservices
  • Alternative to AKS when Kubernetes ops are not justified
