Mobile backend services on Azure App Service

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

Azure Mobile Apps (App Service Mobile) provided mobile-optimized backends—authentication, offline sync, and push hooks on App Service—widely used in legacy Xamarin and early mobile estates.

ConnectSoft greenfield mobile work standardizes on .NET MAUI with ASP.NET Core APIs, Microsoft Entra ID, and Notification Hubs or SignalR—not new Mobile Apps backends. We maintain and integrate existing Mobile Apps where clients still depend on them.

Migration paths move auth, sync, and data access to modern .NET services on Azure App Service or Container Apps with documented cutover plans.

If you inherit Mobile Apps, we stabilize and plan modernization without blocking product delivery.

Why we use it:

  • Supported for legacy mobile estates—not Factory greenfield default
  • Migration path to ASP.NET Core + MAUI documented
  • Auth aligned with Microsoft Entra where possible
  • Push via Notification Hubs when still required
  • Data access boundaries reviewed for offline sync
  • Security patches and App Service plan hygiene
  • Telemetry bridged to Application Insights
