Azure AI Foundry for models, agents, and governance

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

Microsoft Foundry (Azure AI Foundry) is the unified Azure surface for model deployment, prompt flow, evaluation, and agent tooling—alongside Azure OpenAI and other model providers under enterprise governance.

ConnectSoft uses Foundry and Microsoft.Extensions.AI in SaaS and platform templates where copilots, RAG, and agent workflows need managed keys, private networking, and cost controls—not ad-hoc API experiments. Microsoft AI Services cards in this catalog cover the underlying cognitive APIs; Foundry is how teams orchestrate and operate them at program scale.

For client engagements we align project boundaries, RBAC, and content safety with Microsoft Entra ID and Application Insights—so AI features ship with the same auditability as your ASP.NET Core APIs.

If you are standardizing AI on Azure, we help you land Foundry projects that plug into Factory .NET services instead of isolated notebooks.

Why we use it:

  • Model deployment and quota governance per environment
  • Private endpoints and managed identity access patterns
  • Evaluation and safety workflows before production promotion
  • Integrates with Microsoft.Extensions.AI in .NET 10 hosts
  • Distinct from ad-hoc OpenAI keys in application settings
  • Observability and cost tracking in Application Insights
  • Factory templates document AI boundaries per product
