Azure Service Fabric

Distributed microservices and reliable stateful services

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

Azure Service Fabric is a distributed systems platform for packaging, deploying, and managing scalable microservices and containers—with reliable stateful services, health monitoring, and rolling upgrades built into the runtime.

ConnectSoft Factory and SaaS programs today standardize on Kubernetes (AKS), Azure Container Apps, and ASP.NET Core on Microsoft Azure for new platform work. We still deliver and modernize Service Fabric clusters when clients already run mission-critical .NET services on Fabric, or when regulatory and operational history require staying on that substrate.

For those engagements we align observability with Application Insights and OpenTelemetry, identity with Microsoft Entra ID, and messaging with Azure Service Bus or MassTransit—so Fabric-hosted services participate in the same enterprise patterns as the rest of your Azure estate.

If you operate Service Fabric today and need a partner who speaks both Fabric and modern Azure Kubernetes paths, we help you stabilize what you have and plan phased migration without big-bang risk.

Why we use it:

  • Proven for stateful, long-running .NET microservice estates
  • Health probes, rolling upgrades, and cluster reliability primitives
  • Integrated with Application Insights and Entra-backed security
  • Factory default for greenfield is AKS / Container Apps—not new Fabric clusters
  • Clear migration and coexistence plans with ASP.NET Core on Kubernetes
  • Operational runbooks and capacity planning per cluster
  • ConnectSoft .NET 10 expertise for services hosted on Fabric or AKS
