Azure API Management

Backend

API gateway, policies, and developer portal

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

Azure API Management (APIM) provides a managed gateway for REST and GraphQL APIs—rate limiting, OAuth termination, request transformation, analytics, and a published developer portal for partners.

ConnectSoft places ASP.NET Core services behind APIM in B2B and multi-tenant programs where external consumers need stable contracts, keys, and SLAs separate from internal cluster ingress.

We integrate Microsoft Entra ID, OpenAPI specs from Swashbuckle or Scalar, and Application Insights for end-to-end correlation across gateway and backend.

When partners integrate with your platform, APIM is the enterprise front door—we implement policies that match Factory auth patterns instead of one-off API keys in config files.'

Why we use it:

  • OAuth and JWT validation aligned with Entra ID
  • Rate limits and quotas per subscription or product
  • OpenAPI import from ASP.NET Core services
  • Developer portal for partner onboarding
  • Private networking options for internal and external APIs
  • Analytics linked to Application Insights
  • Versioning strategy for backward-compatible releases
