OpenTelemetry-native logs, metrics, and traces

Official documentation (opens in a new tab)

Overview

SigNoz is an open-source observability platform built on OpenTelemetry—traces, metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts in one place. Teams often choose it as a self-hosted or cloud alternative when they want OpenTelemetry-native pipelines without proprietary agents locked to a single vendor.

ConnectSoft Factory templates already instrument ASP.NET Core services with OpenTelemetry and export to Application Insights on Microsoft Azure by default. When a program standardizes on SigNoz—on Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service, or SigNoz Cloud—we keep the same OTLP exporters and semantic conventions, adding collectors, retention, and alert routes that match your environment.

For client engagements we document who operates the stack (your team vs ours), how PII is handled in logs, and how SigNoz complements—not replaces—Azure Monitor where regulated workloads still need first-party integration.

That gives you correlated signals for incident response and capacity planning while staying on .NET 10 and the Azure-first delivery path ConnectSoft uses everywhere else.

Why we use it:

  • Native OpenTelemetry ingestion—no proprietary .NET agent required
  • Correlated logs, metrics, and traces in one UI for faster triage
  • Self-host on AKS or use SigNoz Cloud when ops prefers managed
  • Pairs with Serilog and Factory OTLP defaults alongside Application Insights
  • Usage-based pricing model without per-host or per-seat surprises
  • Dashboards and alerts for golden signals and service-level objectives
  • Optional when Azure Monitor alone meets the engagement; adopted with explicit runbooks
